How to prepare for full body waxing

A little preparation helps your wax grip the hair properly and gives your skin the best possible start.

Let the hair grow

Hair should generally be around 6 mm, or approximately the length of a grain of rice, so the wax can grip it effectively. If you have been shaving, allow around two to three weeks of growth where possible.

Do not worry if you are unsure whether your hair is long enough. It is better to ask us than to shave immediately before your appointment.

Exfoliate gently beforehand

Gently exfoliate the areas being waxed 24–48 hours before your appointment. This can help remove dead skin cells and reduce the chance of trapped hairs.

Do not exfoliate on the day of your wax. Waxing is already a form of exfoliation, and doubling up can leave skin feeling unnecessarily sensitive.

Arrive with clean, dry skin

Avoid applying oils, lotions, deodorant, perfume, self-tan or heavy products to the areas being waxed. These can make it harder for the wax to grip the hair.

A gentle shower before your appointment is ideal, followed by thoroughly drying the skin.

Start ingrown prevention at the right time

Once redness and tenderness have settled, usually after a few days, begin gentle exfoliation two or three times a week. Do not scrub aggressively, and wait longer on intimate areas if they remain sensitive.
