How Often Should You Wax? Your Skin-Kind Waxing Calendar & Regrowth Rituals

Meta description: Discover how often to wax, understand your regrowth cycle and build a skin-kind routine for Brazilian, Hollywood, full body waxing and brow shaping.

If you’re wondering when to book your next wax, you’re not alone. Hair doesn’t follow a perfectly predictable timetable, and regrowth can look different from one person to the next. The good news? With a little knowledge and a consistent routine, you can work with your hair growth cycle instead of constantly guessing.

At The Waxing Witch, we see waxing as a magical ritual meets expert hair removal. Our primary specialism is intimate waxing, including Brazilian and Hollywood waxing, delivered in a private, inclusive and judgment-free space where your comfort and skin health come first.

The simple answer: book every 4–6 weeks

For most clients, 4–6 weeks is the ideal waxing interval. If you’re new to waxing or restarting after a break, booking around every four weeks can help establish a routine. Over time, you may find that five or six weeks suits your regrowth better.

Try not to book too soon. Hair generally needs to be around a quarter of an inch long, or roughly the length of a grain of rice, for the wax to grip effectively. Booking before the hair is ready can result in missed or broken hairs and a less satisfying finish.

For a Brazilian wax or Hollywood wax, you may notice a little regrowth after two or three weeks. That doesn’t necessarily mean you’re ready for another appointment. Your hair may be visible, but it might not yet be long enough for effective professional hair removal.

Why regrowth appears at different times

Every hair is working to its own tiny timetable. Hair moves through three main phases:

Not every hair is in the same phase during your appointment. This is why a few hairs can appear shortly after your first wax, even when your treatment has been completed correctly. Those hairs may have been resting beneath the skin and were not yet ready to be removed.

Consistent waxing helps bring more of those growth cycles into alignment. After several regular appointments, many clients notice regrowth becoming finer, softer and more manageable. You can read more about this in our guide to intimate waxing and the hair growth cycle.

Your skin-kind waxing calendar

Here’s a helpful starting point:

Weeks 0–1: Let your skin settle

Immediately after waxing, your skin may be warm or slightly pink. Keep the area clean, avoid unnecessary touching and choose loose, breathable clothing. For intimate waxing, avoid heat, swimming, intense exercise and friction for the first 24–48 hours.

Weeks 2–3: Notice, don’t panic

You may see the first signs of regrowth. Resist the temptation to shave between appointments, as this interrupts your waxing rhythm and can make future regrowth feel blunt and prickly.

Week 3 onwards: Begin gentle maintenance

Once at least 48–72 hours have passed after your appointment, gentle exfoliation two or three times a week can help reduce the risk of ingrown hairs. Keep your skin hydrated with a gentle, fragrance-free moisturiser suitable for the area.

Weeks 4–6: Book your next ritual

When the hair has reached a workable length, it’s time to rebook. Most clients find that regular appointments within this window give the best balance of smoothness, comfort and skin health.

Your ideal schedule may vary depending on hair texture, hormones, medication, the area being waxed and whether you are just beginning a routine. We can help you personalise it during your appointment.

Don’t forget your waxing aftercare

Good waxing aftercare is part of the ritual, not an optional extra. Avoid hot baths, saunas, sunbeds, swimming and intense workouts for the first day or two. Wear soft, loose clothing and avoid fragranced products on freshly waxed skin.

After the initial settling period, gentle exfoliation and regular hydration can help keep skin comfortable between appointments. Never pick at bumps or ingrown hairs. If something feels unusual or persistent, ask your waxing professional for advice.

Why autumn is the perfect time to start

September is an excellent month to start or restart a waxing routine. With fewer last-minute summer events and less pressure to be instantly smooth, autumn gives you time to establish a consistent 4–6 week schedule. By the time warmer weather returns, your regrowth may already be finer and easier to manage.

Alongside intimate waxing, we also offer full body waxing and brow shaping for a quick, neat tidy-up. Whatever your treatment, you’ll be welcomed exactly as you are.
